I often get asked "Why did you become a celebrant?"
The answer is simple - I like helping people, love a ceremony and my personality - nothing is too much trouble. I feel others pain and I can empathise when times are tough but on the other side, I am always happy to help celebrate good news. My support has no boundaries, it's just who I am.
So, after being told by strangers and close friends that I would make a good, compassionate and understanding celebrant, I started to look into training and expectations of a celebrant. And now, here I am!
I like to think that I have the personality to help families get through the most exciting ceremonies and also the most heartbreaking ceremonies that come to us all in life. I hope that my creativeness and patience makes these important events a little easier to deal with.
I had the opportunity to discuss my own mum's funeral plans while in training. When the time came, I knew exactly what she wanted and a bit more, just from me. This is a conversation that no one else had with her.
I was pleased I could grant her final wishes and conduct the celebration of her life ceremony myself.
