What is an independent celebrant?  What do they do?

What is an independent celebrant?

As an independent celebrant I am able to hold any type of ceremony. I am happy to conduct cross faith ceremonies or no faith ceremonies.  I will include anything you want to create a fully bespoke ceremony filled with love and meaning.

There are many different kinds of celebrants.  Humanists - don't believe in life after death and are restricted to what ceremonies they can conduct whilst, Agnostics believe there is an afterlife and are open to a wider variety of ceremonies as they don't have any restrictions.

What do you do?

I work with you to create ceremony which is personal and meaningful to you.

I listen to your wants, dreams, loves of hobbies and places.  The people who have helped you through life.  Anything and everything that has made you, you!

Together, we will write your ceremony from the heart, incorporating as much or as little as you would like.  The sky is the limit - there are no boundaries to what can or can't be included. It's always about your day, your ceremony!

You can include flowers, herbs, hobbies, poems, music, family engagement, etc. Include a ritual such as a hand fasting, a quaich toast or sand ceremony.

Where can I have a ceremony?

In Scotland you can hold a ceremony in most locations, some need just the permission of the land owner.  You can have a ceremony in your favourite or special place, it's up to you.

Is my wedding ceremony legal?

You will need to register your marriage in a Register Office before or after your celebrant wedding ceremony in order to make your marriage legally binding.
