 Inspiration for your ceremony

Why have a poem

Whatever the ceremony, be it funeral, wedding, vow renewal or baby naming, there will be times when the family, couple or individual need to collect their thoughts and feelings and, take moments of contemplation during what is a very special moment.

Memories can make you laugh and cry.  Choosing a poem can help all take a breath and get ready to carry on!  The poem chosen will generally make you smile at the thought of moving forward in life and the happiness that this little sacred space in the ceremony has brought you.  Never to forget that the words of a particular chosen poem can evoke a feeling of closeness to the other people around.

Fidelty

Man and woman are like the earth, that brings forth flowers
in summer, and love, but underneath is rock.
Older than flowers, older than ferns, older than foraminiferae,
older than plasm altogether is the soul underneath.
And when, throughout all the wild chaos of love
slowly a gem forms, in the ancient, once-more-molten rocks
of two human hearts, two ancient rocks,
a man's heart and a woman's,
that is the crystal of peace, the slow hard jewel of trust,
the sapphire of fidelity.
The gem of mutual peace emerging from the wild chaos of love.

Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled room

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long

And not with your head bowed low

Remember the love that once we shared

Miss me, but let me go

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.

Treasured Memories Mum On Your Birthday

Of all the special gifts in life

However, great or small

To have you as my Mum was the greatest gift of all.

May the winds of love blow softly

And whisper in your ear

"I love and miss you Mum and wish that you were here."

Deep in my heart, your life is kept

To love and cherish, not forget

No tomorrow, we can share but yesterdays are always there.

A silent thought.  A secret tear

Keeps your memory ever near

In my heart forever.
